Montgomery County health officials announced yesterday that public pools (county run, as well as swim clubs and neighborhood pools) throughout the county will not be able to open for the Memorial Day weekend.
As a result, the Fallsmead Pool will remain closed this weekend. The county has not announced a date when they expect pools will be allowed to open (best estimates are mid-June to early July).
The Fallsmead Pool Committee is monitoring the situation closely and will notify residents as soon as we are notified that the pool is permitted to open for operations. Our pool management company has taken all necessary steps to ensure we are able to open the pool as soon as we are permitted to do so by the county. Note that a number of restrictions will likely be imposed when the pool finally opens. This may include limitations on the number residents admitted to ensure appropriate distances can be maintained while on the pool deck, closure of some pool features, requesting that people bring their own pool furniture, and limiting pool admission to residents/members only. The complete notice provided by the county can be accessed here.
The board and the committee thank you for your patience.
David Teague (Pool Committee Chairman)
